The Daily Deskhenge:

In continuing to look at how we are in the elements, today’s deskhenge is about how we are in Fire. And again, strangely enough, the card that appears belongs to the Cups. Honestly I don’t know why the Cups have appeared for the last three days in each element except Water (which will be the subject of tomorrow’s deskhenge). Maybe it is speaking to the heart and how no matter what element or side of us is represented as we’re going through our lives, we are all beings of the heart. We all are searching for love and everything that comes with it, even as we immerse ourselves in Earth, Air, and Fire. But for today’s purposes, the 8 of Cups represents how we are in Fire: we run away! 🙂  No, but seriously, are you running away from your gifts? Or perhaps you are leaving or getting ready to leave your current situation in order to find more creatively fertile ground. We are perhaps all creatures of habit, mere comfort-seeking missiles who would rather watch the most inane television program than face the horrible abyss of Self that is the blank page. And actually I’m not passing judgment on that score: I’ve been avoiding my own creative mojo for years; this blog itself is a way of sneaking back into writing for me. It’s like I’m tricking myself into writing every day by doing this, and it doesn’t even seem awful or painful the way it does when I face The.Blank.Page.Of.Horror.And.Doom™. We all really do need our evenings or afternoons or weekends on the couch watching television or DVDs on Netflix or playing World of Jughead First-Person Shooters. But this card is a reminder that the search isn’t over. The strength and stability present in the “double four” foundational energy of the eights is not enough. It’s stagnation. As fiery creative beings, stagnation is the enemy. So push yourself when and where you can to change up your routines, and get a little more creativity flowing.

Oh, and tonight’s a full moon. Just like in that card up there. 🙂
