The Daily Deskhenge:
Today’s deskhenge is coming to you sans photo, which sucks but the Gods of the BlackBerry decided that your Oracle’s phone software needed updating, which it’s in the middle of at the moment and I can’t seem to get my phone back until it’s done. Phooey.
We shall proceed despite this mini hiccup. Today I laid out four cards around my Ancestor stone, one for each direction. In the North, for Earth, the card that came up is the 3 of Swords. In the South, for Fire, the card that came up is the King of Wands (which I think is pretty apropos actually). In the East, for Air, the card that came up is the Queen of Cups. In the West, for Water, the card that came up is the Page of Swords. The question I asked as I laid out the cards was, “What do those who most identify with each element need to know today?”
If you are one of the Earth signs, or otherwise consider yourself an Earthy person, your illusions are going to take a beating now into the near future. This may not be real, it may only be your perception, but believe me, I know how much perception hurts–Andy Gibb was my imaginary Hollywood boyfriend from 1976-1980, and it broke my heart into a million little pieces that he never asked me to marry him. Your situation might not be quite so ridiculous, but it hurts when you get smacked upside the head by reality. Just take it for what it is and move on–try not to make too much out of it, and for God’s sake leave the hot pink satin bell bottoms at home.
If you are one of the Fire signs or otherwise consider yourself a fiery person (like me), keep your eyes and ears open for wisdom/ideas about your creative projects taking hold in your heart. If you had an idea but were kind of on the fence about it, but you can’t seem to shake it or make it go away to make room for something else, get ready to fall in love with it all over again. And this time, ACT on it.
If you are one of the Air signs or otherwise consider yourself an airy person, brace yourself: emotional reality is coming your way in a big way. Have you had a good cry lately? Have you fallen in love? Have you told someone who really pisses you off that OH MY GOD if they don’t stop pissing you off you’re going to make a marshmallow person in their image and set fire to it and then feed the smoldering remains to a rabid raccoon? How about maybe just a little exercise instead? Some kind of good-emotional-housekeeping habit is probably going to be useful soon.
If you are one of the Water signs or otherwise consider yourself a watery person (like me as well), take a step back and look at these ideas and thoughts from as close to a “beginner’s mind” place as possible. Go back to the beginning. You’ve let yourself get carried away, probably by your powerful emotions, and now it’s time to put some sails on that little boat of yours and get control of it. You’ve done enough travelling on the backs of any and every wave that came by and lifted and settled you wherever it wanted. It’s time to start planning some control. Take charge, but with your head this time.
